What does it mean "a proud Jew"? I would like to be a proud Jew. I have devoted my life to this. I very much would like to write a few books – completely real ones. I have written them, I have published them. In an astonishing manner, I succeeded in everything. There is not a single project, of which I dreamed – which I did not realize. Why it occurred this way in my life – I do not know. Perhaps because I did not think up anything, which I could not carry out. Perhaps, I had such a strong push – now it is less. Everything I wanted, everything happened. My idea is, that one should do one's business. If one has to sit in prison for this, one has to do it. If one gets paid decent wages for it and you live well – very good...

Where the blood libel come from

The blood libel – is the accusation of the Jews in the killing of Christians for ritual purposes – and it appeared in Central Europe during the Middle Ages. The American researcher E.M. Rose has published a monography, where she described first hand this dark, anti-Semitic myth, for hundreds of years strengthening in the collective consciousness. According to Rose, everything began in England in the midst of the twelfth century on the background of the failure of the Second crusade and the devastating Civil war. The research of Rose surely will become classical micro-history during the years to come.
